500 ml water
1 piloncillo (or panela)
2 pieces of chocolate
1/2 stick of cinnamon
150 g masa de maíz
200 g sugar
1.5 liters of milk

Put a deep pot on the stove and add 500 ml of purified water.

Turn the heat to high and add the piloncillo, chocolate, and half a stick of cinnamon to the pot.

While the piloncillo and chocolate are melting, dissolve 150 g of masa de maíz in water using clean hands to remove lumps.

Once the piloncillo and chocolate have melted, add 1.5 liters of milk to the pot and mix.

Add 100 g of the 200 g of sugar to the pot to avoid making it too sweet.

Stir the mixture to dissolve the sugar.

Incorporate the dissolved masa de maíz into the pot and stir constantly to prevent sticking or burning at the bottom.

Continue stirring until the mixture comes to a boil and reaches a thick consistency.
