💰Cheaper: strong brewed coffee

Strong brewed coffee can mimic espresso flavor at a lower cost.

Take a cup and place it underneath the espresso machine.

Turn on the hot water until the cup is about 2/3 full.

Note that the water from the machine is delivered at about 90 degrees Celsius.

Remove the drip tray from the machine and set it aside.

Attach the filter holder with the double shot basket to the machine.

Place the cup underneath the filter holder with enough room for the largest cup.

Brew the espresso, which should be delivered between 20 to 26 seconds for a double shot or 18 to 23 seconds for a single shot.

Observe the crema forming on top of the espresso as it brews.

Infuse the brewed espresso with hot water to create the Americano.

Enjoy the Americano, noting the nice thin layer of crema on top.
