Introduce the Americano and the espresso machine being used (Francis Francis y1 Red by Illy).

Prepare a slightly large cup by removing the tray from the espresso machine for better clearance.

Open the brew basket of the espresso machine and insert the Illy espresso capsule.

Close the brew basket and latch the top of the espresso machine.

Press the brew button to start brewing the espresso.

Monitor the brewing process, noting that the machine does not have a timer and requires attention.

Aim for a half and half ratio of espresso to hot water.

Once the espresso is brewed, remove the spent capsule from the machine.

Run hot water into the brewed espresso to achieve the desired strength, aiming for about half and half.

Optionally, suggest adding sweeteners or cream if desired.
