Cultural Context
Tiramisu, originating from the Veneto region of Italy, is a beloved dessert that translates to 'pick me up,' referring to the energizing coffee it contains. Traditionally enjoyed after meals, it showcases the Italian love for coffee and rich flavors. Today, tiramisu has gained international fame and has inspired countless variations, from fruit-infused versions to vegan adaptations.

Coffee extract adds flavor without alcohol.
Separate the egg whites from the yolks.
Whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
Add 3 tablespoons of sugar to the egg yolks and whisk until creamy and light.
Add the whole tub of mascarpone to the egg yolk mixture and mix until smooth.
Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the mascarpone mixture using a metal spoon.
Prepare the coffee by brewing strong Italian coffee or getting 2-3 shots of espresso from a coffee shop.
In a bowl, mix the brewed coffee with Marsala wine.
Start assembling the tiramisu by placing a layer of the creamy mixture at the bottom of a dish.
Dust a little cocoa powder on top of the cream layer, ensuring it goes to the edges.
Quickly dip the sponge fingers in the coffee and Marsala mixture and layer them on top of the cream.
Repeat the layering process with cream and sponge fingers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a final dusting of cocoa powder on top.
Refrigerate the tiramisu overnight for best flavor.
