Greek yogurt offers a healthier option with similar creaminess.
Finely chop the onion using a blender or knife.
In a bowl, add the ground meat (pork and beef mix) and chopped onion.
Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Add fresh herbs and a pinch of thyme for aroma, then mix well.
If desired, add a tablespoon or two of water for moisture and mix again.
Grate the potatoes using a food processor or a fine grater.
Optionally, drain the potato mixture to remove excess liquid, but the creator does not do this.
Add the egg, season with salt and black pepper, and add a couple of tablespoons of flour.
Mix the potato mixture until combined.
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Scoop the potato mixture into the skillet, flattening it slightly.
Place small patties of the meat mixture on top of the potato mixture and cover with more potato mixture.
Fry until golden brown on one side, then carefully flip and fry until browned on the other side.
To ensure the meat is fully cooked, reduce heat and cover with a lid, or transfer to a preheated oven at 180-200 degrees Celsius for 10-15 minutes.
