8 oz guava paste
2 tablespoons water
1 lb puff pastry (Pepperidge Farm)
1/4 cup powdered sugar

cream cheese

🥗Healthier: Greek yogurt

💰Cheaper: ricotta cheese

Greek yogurt reduces calories while maintaining creaminess

🥗Healthier: phyllo dough

💰Cheaper: homemade dough

Phyllo dough is lighter and can be made from scratch for less.

1

Heat the guava paste in the microwave for 30 seconds.

2

Mash the guava paste with a fork until it becomes a smooth paste without lumps.

3

Add 2 tablespoons of water to the guava paste and mix until fully incorporated, about 3-4 minutes.

4

Preheat the oven to 350°F.

5

Prepare a baking tray by lining it with parchment paper.

6

Cut the puff pastry into 9 squares, approximately 4x4 inches, by making two cuts down and two cuts across without dragging the knife.

7

Slightly stretch each square by hand to make them bigger, or use a rolling pin gently.

8

Place half of the squares down on a flat surface and add 1 tablespoon of guava paste to the center of each square.

9

Wet the borders of each square with your fingers to help seal them.

10

Cover each square with another piece of dough, pressing the borders to seal them together.

11

Place the pastries on the baking tray, leaving at least half an inch to 1 inch apart.

12

If it's a hot day, refrigerate the pastries for at least 15 minutes before baking.

13

Bake the pastries in the preheated oven for 25 minutes at 350°F or at 400°F for a crunchier finish.

14

Once out of the oven, top the pastries with 1/4 cup of powdered sugar while they are still hot.
