1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon lemon juice

In a large bowl, add 1 cup of warm milk, 1/4 cup of white sugar, and 2 and 1/4 teaspoons of dry active yeast.

Set the mixture aside until the yeast rises to the surface in a pale foamy cloud.

Lightly beat 1 egg and add it to the bowl along with 1/3 cup of softened butter and 1 teaspoon of salt.

Add 3 and 1/2 cups of bread flour to the bowl and mix.

Knead the mixture until you have a smooth elastic dough ball (about 5 minutes in a stand mixer or 8 minutes by hand).
