Chili with Beef and Bean

Cultural Context

Chili, a staple of American cuisine, particularly in the Southwest, has roots in Mexican cooking and was popularized in the U.S. during the 19th century. Traditionally, it features a hearty mix of meat, beans, and spices, often served at gatherings and competitions. Today, variations abound, with some opting for vegetarian versions or different beans, but the classic beef and bean combination remains a favorite.
