Almond milk reduces calories while maintaining moisture

1

Start by introducing the dish and ingredients.

2

Combine 1/2 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs with 1/4 cup milk and 1/3 cup grated onion in a bowl. Let this mixture sit for about 5-10 minutes to hydrate the breadcrumbs.

3

In a large mixing bowl, add 1.5 lb ground chuck, the breadcrumb mixture, 2 eggs, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 5 cloves of minced garlic, 1 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp black pepper. Mix until well combined, being careful not to overmix.

4

Shape the mixture into oval patties, about 1 inch thick. Use water on your hands to prevent sticking if necessary.

5

Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium heat and add a little olive oil to coat the bottom.

6

Add the patties to the skillet, cooking for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned. Adjust the heat as necessary to prevent burning.

7

Once browned, remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.

8

In the same skillet, add 1 large sliced onion and 1 lb sliced mushrooms. Sauté for about 7 minutes until softened, adding salt to help release moisture.

9

Add 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 2 tsp fresh thyme, 3 tbsp butter, and 3 tsp flour to the skillet, stirring to combine and create a roux.

10

Pour in 2 cups beef stock and 1/2 cup dry red wine (if using), stirring to create a gravy. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.

11

Return the patties to the skillet, spooning the gravy over them. Cover and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the patties are cooked through.
