Simple bread, made with just a few ingredients, reflects the essence of home cooking and the joy of sharing meals with loved ones. Today, variations abound worldwide, from crusty baguettes to soft naan, each with its unique twist on this ancient recipe.

Sourdough adds unique flavor and probiotics.
Add 2 cups of all-purpose flour to a bowl.
Add 1 cup of all-purpose flour to the bowl.
Add 0.5 tablespoons of dry instant yeast to the flour.
Add 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of salt to the mixture.
In a separate container, combine 0.5 cups of hot water and 0.5 cups of full cream milk.
Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable shortening to the hot liquid mixture.
Pour the liquid mixture into the flour mixture.
Use a rubber spatula to mix until a ball forms.
Flour a clean counter and dump the dough onto it.
Knead the dough for about 8 minutes until smooth and pliable.
Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a tea towel.
Let the dough rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough to release air.
Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased pan.
Cover and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake the bread for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
Let the bread cool for about 45 minutes before slicing.
