Originating from Lithuania, cepelinai are named after their zeppelin-like shape. Traditionally served during festive occasions, these hearty dumplings symbolize comfort and family gatherings. They showcase the resourcefulness of Lithuanian cuisine, utilizing simple ingredients to create a filling dish. Today, cepelinai are enjoyed not only in Lithuania but also in various Eastern European countries, often with regional variations in fillings and sauces.

Peel and grate the potatoes into a bowl.
Squeeze excess moisture from the grated potatoes.
Combine grated potatoes with flour, egg, and salt to form a dough.
In a separate pan, sauté chopped onion and garlic in butter until translucent.
Mix sautéed onion and garlic with ground meat, adding salt and pepper to taste.
Form small patties of the meat mixture.
Take a portion of potato dough, flatten it, and place a meat patty in the center.
Wrap the dough around the meat to form a ball, sealing it tightly.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Drop the zeppelins into the boiling water and cook until they float, about 15-20 minutes.
Remove zeppelins with a slotted spoon and let drain.
In a skillet, fry cooked zeppelins in butter until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
Serve hot, topped with sour cream and sprinkled with chives.
