2 cans (18 oz or 500 g) butter beans
3 big onions, roughly chopped
2 tbsp paprika
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
4 pcs bay leaves
1 tsp salt
A pinch of pepper, to taste
½ cup (120 ml) bean water (aquafaba)
2 tbsp parsley, chopped

Heat the olive oil in a large cast-iron or ovenproof skillet.

Add the onions and sauté until golden brown, about 15–20 minutes.

Add garlic, salt, and pepper. Continue to sauté for another 10 minutes. (Add a splash of water if needed.)

Stir in the butter beans, mixing well.

Pour in the bean water, paprika, and bay leaves. Stir thoroughly and bring everything to a boil.

Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

Garnish with fresh parsley. Serve hot with crusty bread, sausages, or pljeskavica (Serbian burger).
