Traditionally served at celebrations, it symbolizes joy and festivity. Today, variations can be found in many Eastern European countries, each adding their unique twist to this classic treat.

Fondant is easier to work with and less expensive than marzipan.
Start by cracking one egg into a bowl.
Add a small pinch of salt and a small pinch of savory.
Crumble in some white cheese and mix it with the egg.
Slice some bread and toast it on one side to prevent sogginess.
Spread the egg and cheese mixture generously on the toasted side of the bread.
Place the topped bread back in the oven until golden brown.
For the meat version, mix 650 g of mixed pork and veal with salt, black pepper, cumin, and savory.
Add 65 g of neutral oil and an equal amount of sparkling water to the meat mixture and mix well.
Slice a different loaf of bread lengthwise for the second version of the toast.
Spread the meat mixture onto the sliced bread and cook upside down on a grill.
Prepare a herb salt mixture with salt, dry oregano, savory, paprika, and cornmeal.
Grind the herb salt and sprinkle it on the cooked toast.
For the third toast, slice parsley, dill, and spring onions and mix with melty cheese.
Toast the bread before adding the herb and cheese mixture, then grill until done.
