Russian Salad

Wash and peel the potatoes, then chop them into small cubes and place them in water to prevent discoloration.

Cube the pineapple, using about 3 large slices, and discard the center.

Chop the carrots into small cubes, removing the center part if desired.

Soak the French beans in salted water for 10 minutes, wash them, remove the edges, and chop them.

Remove the core and peel from half an apple, then chop it into pieces.

Boil 4 to 5 cups of water and add the chopped potatoes, cooking until firm but not mushy (about 5 minutes).

Drain the potatoes and place them in a bowl.

In the same boiling water, add the chopped carrots for about a minute, then drain and add to the bowl.

Repeat with the French beans, cooking them just until they hit the water, then drain and add to the bowl.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the potatoes, French beans, carrots, apple, and pineapple, mixing well.

Season with 1/2 teaspoon of pepper powder and salt to taste, mixing everything together.

Add 1 cup of mayonnaise (and an additional 1/2 cup if desired), mixing thoroughly.

Chill the salad before serving.
