Meringue, a classic French confection, has been cherished since the 17th century, often associated with elegant desserts. The combination of airy egg whites and sugar creates a light, crisp texture that melts in the mouth. Traditionally, meringue is served on its own or as a topping for pies, but incorporating nuts adds a delightful crunch and richness. Today, variations abound globally, with many cultures adopting and adapting the technique to create their own unique treats.

Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites.
Whip the egg whites at low speed until they are at room temperature.
Optionally add a pinch of salt or half a teaspoon of lemon juice.
Gradually increase the speed of the mixer and continue to whip until soft peaks form.
Gradually add powdered sugar while whisking at high speed.
Continue to whip the mixture until it becomes a dense white mass with a shine and holds its shape, about 7 to 8 minutes.
Peel the walnuts and cut them into small pieces.
Add the chopped walnuts to the whipped mixture and mix well.
Spread the mixture on a baking sheet covered with baking paper using a pastry bag or spoon.
Bake in a preheated oven at 100 degrees Celsius for 2 hours.
Transfer the finished meringue to a dish.
