Ask your fishmonger for quality salmon prepared for raw consumption.
Freeze the salmon for at least 48 hours at -20°C to eliminate potential parasites.
Thaw the salmon gradually in the refrigerator instead of using a microwave.
Cut the thawed salmon into small pieces and place in a bowl.
Add a teaspoon of soy sauce to the bowl with the salmon.
Add a teaspoon of Dijon mustard to the bowl, mixing carefully as it has a strong flavor.
Squeeze juice from a lime into the bowl, using a trick to get more juice by rolling the lime on the counter before cutting it.
Grate a small amount of ginger into the bowl for flavor, being cautious as it is potent.
Mix all the ingredients in the bowl to marinate the salmon.
In a separate pan, heat a splash of vegetable oil over medium heat.
Add frozen mixed vegetables (onion, mushrooms, broccoli, green beans, red bell pepper) to the pan and sauté until cooked.
Prepare basmati rice by rinsing it well in a colander to remove excess starch.
For cooking the rice, use a 2:1 water-to-rice ratio, using the same cup for both measurements.
Cook the rice until it is fluffy and not sticky.
