Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
Cut the beef steak and kidney into bite-sized pieces.
Chop the onions, carrots, and mushrooms.
In a large pan, melt butter over medium heat and sauté the onions until translucent.
Add the beef and kidney to the pan and brown on all sides.
Stir in the carrots and mushrooms, cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes.
Sprinkle flour over the meat mixture and stir to coat evenly.
Gradually add beef broth, stirring until the mixture thickens.
Season with salt, black pepper, thyme, bay leaves, and Worcestershire sauce.
Remove from heat and let the filling cool slightly.
Roll out the pastry dough on a floured surface.
Line a pie dish with half of the pastry, leaving overhang.
Fill the pastry with the meat mixture, then cover with the remaining pastry.
Seal the edges and cut slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
Brush the top with beaten egg for a golden finish.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown.
