Variations exist across the country, with some adding different vegetables or spices to suit local tastes.

Set heat to medium or slightly lower on a 12-inch cast iron skillet.
Add 1 lb of 80/20 ground beef to the skillet and brown until it loses all pink color, stirring occasionally.
While the beef is browning, prepare the broth by mixing 2 and 1/2 cups of hot water with 2 and 1/2 teaspoons of Nor beef flavor bouillon. Stir well and set aside.
Once the beef is browned, drain excess grease but leave about 1 and 1/2 tablespoons in the skillet.
Move the beef to the side of the skillet and add 1 cup of rinsed jasmine rice and 1 cup of diced onions. Stir and cook for about 2 and 1/2 minutes until the rice loses its white color and the onions release their flavor.
Add 2 large minced garlic cloves to the rice and onions, cooking for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Add 1 cup of diced orange bell pepper and 2 large diced Roma tomatoes to the skillet. Mix everything together.
Season with 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of onion powder, 1 teaspoon of paprika, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cumin, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, and salt to taste.
Pour in the prepared beef broth (2 and 1/2 cups) and stir to combine. Cover with a lid and let cook for 15 to 18 minutes, checking that all liquid is absorbed.
After about 14 minutes, check the rice and beef mixture. Once ready, add chopped cilantro (or parsley) and 2 and 1/2 cups of freshly grated Kobe Jack cheese on top.
Preheat oven to 400°F. Place the skillet in the oven on the middle rack for about 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted, without a lid.
After 5 minutes, remove from the oven and serve with homemade corn tortillas and sliced avocado.
