500 gram sliced beef
1 nos. onion (medium)
2 nos. garlic cloves
1 nos. ginger slice
8 nos. dried red chillies
1/4 cup curry leaves
1/2 tsp black pepper corn
1 tomato (medium)
2 nos. fresh chilli
Salt to taste (1 tsp)
1/4 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp tumeric powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp lime juice
2 tbsp cooking oil (for stir frying beef mixture)
2 tbsp cooking oil (for gravy)
12 nos curry leaves
2 (1/2) tbsp tomato paste
salt to taste (1/2 tsp)
1 cup water
1/2 cup water

In a blender, add all the ingredients listed above for chilli paste mixture and grind it to a smooth paste.

To the sliced beef mixture add the rest of the ingredients listed for beef marination. Mix well and set aside.

Thinly slice the onion and finely chop the garlic.

On medium to high heat add cooking oil, marinated beef mixture and mix well. Once juices from beef emerges, close the lid and cook 5-6 mins or until juices from beef is gone.

Lid off, let it cook further until little char is formed on the beef. Once done, remove the beef mixture.

In the same pot on medium heat, add cooking oil, sliced onion, chopped garlic and curry leaves. Cook till onions are slightly golden browned.

Add tomato paste and 1/2 or 1/3 of the grinded chilli paste mixture, according to your spice preference. Put the rest of the chilli paste mixture for later use.

Add salt to taste and cook 4-5 mins on low to medium heat while stirring frequently.

Add 1 cup water and cook 3-4 mins on low to medium heat.

Add cooked beef mixture and mix well. Add additional 1/2 cup water and cook 2-3 mins on low to medium heat, so that all the spices will get mixed with the beef well.
