Ground pepper is a more economical option.
Drain and rinse 2 cans of chickpeas or use 3 cups of cooked chickpeas and put them into a blender.
Add 1 cup of aquafaba (liquid from chickpeas) to the blender.
Add 2 tablespoons of miso paste, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of onion powder, and 4 teaspoons of beef flavored vegan bouillon powder to the blender.
Add 2 teaspoons of garlic powder, 4 teaspoons of beet powder, 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, and 2 teaspoons of vegan Worcestershire sauce to the blender.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of liquid smoke to the blender.
Blend the mixture, using a tamper stick if necessary to help mix it thoroughly.
Transfer the blended mixture to a mixing bowl with a dough hook or mix by hand.
Gradually add in 1 cup of gluten flour, then add a second cup of gluten flour while mixing until the mixture is smooth and elastic.
Roll out the dough to develop the grain, folding it in on itself while keeping the grain going one direction.
Shape the dough into a loaf, checking to ensure it fits into your instant pot or steamer.
Line the inside of the instant pot with parchment paper to avoid contact with aluminum foil.
Place a rack inside the instant pot and add 2 cups of water below the rack.
Set the shaped loaf on the rack in the instant pot and close the lid, ensuring the valve is set to seal.
Set the instant pot to high pressure for 120 minutes (2 hours).
After cooking, remove the loaf and let it cool, then refrigerate overnight to chill.
Shred the cooled loaf into nugget-sized pieces for use in various recipes.
