Add 20 grams of dried yeast to a bowl with 50 milliliters of lukewarm water and mix well.
Add 200 milliliters of milk to the yeast mixture and a small amount of flour, mix and set aside to ferment.
In a large bowl, combine 1.5 kilograms of fine white flour, 1 spoon of salt, 10 grams of vanilla sugar, and 10 grams of cardamom.
Grind 5-6 drops of mastija with 100 grams of white sugar until fine and add to the flour mixture.
Add 5 eggs and 40 grams of orange marmalade to the flour mixture and mix with a fork.
Incorporate the yeast and milk mixture into the dough and mix by hand.
Knead the dough for about 15 minutes until smooth, then cover and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
Incorporate 150 grams of almonds into the dough by kneading them in.
Divide the dough into three equal pieces and roll each piece into a long rope.
Braid the three ropes together and seal the ends, tucking them underneath.
Let the braided dough rise for 30 minutes.
Brush the braid with a beaten egg and sprinkle with slivered almonds.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F) and bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
