Sift 1 pound of flour and 1 cup of cornmeal using a strainer to remove lumps.

Add 2 tablespoons of baking powder to the sifted flour and cornmeal mixture.

Stir in 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and 3 tablespoons of melted butter.

Add 1 beaten egg to the mixture.

Mix in 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

Gradually add cold ice water to the mixture, little by little, until the desired consistency is reached.

Once the dough is mixed, roll pieces of the dough into long shapes, similar to play-doh.

Heat corn oil in a pan on medium heat, then reduce to medium-low.

Fry the rolled dough pieces for about 8 minutes, turning them occasionally to ensure even cooking.

Remove the fried festival from the oil once they are golden brown and crispy.
