Separate the egg whites from the egg yolks, using a larger container for the egg whites.
Add 6 tablespoons of cacao powder to the egg yolk bowl.
Add room-temperature butter and 1.5 cups of powdered sugar to the egg yolks and mix until it becomes a thick cream.
Beat the egg whites to stiff peaks at high speed, gradually adding in 0.5 cups of powdered sugar.
Add 1/3 of the chocolate cream to the beaten egg whites.
Add 30 milliliters of rum or cognac and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the mixture.
Add 300 grams of ground walnuts and mix everything together with a spatula.
Disperse the mixture into three trays lined with parchment paper.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 15 minutes.
Layer the baked chocolate layers with cream until all ingredients are used up, covering the top and sides of the cake.
Refrigerate the cake overnight before serving.
