Mix warm milk and sugar in a bowl until dissolved.
Sprinkle yeast over the mixture and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
Combine flour and salt in a large mixing bowl.
Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the flour.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Divide the dough into equal pieces and shape into pretzel forms.
Boil water in a large pot and add baking soda.
Carefully dip each pretzel into the boiling water for 30 seconds, then remove and drain.
Place the pretzels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Sprinkle with almond slivers and cinnamon before baking.
Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Let cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar.
