Bread custard, also known as bread pudding, is a traditional British dessert that utilizes stale bread, making it a frugal dish. It has roots in the 13th century and has evolved into various regional variations. Often served warm with custard or cream, it is a comforting dish enjoyed in homes and during festive occasions.

Heat ½ liter of full cream milk in a pot until it comes to a boil.
Add saffron to the boiling milk and mix well for flavor and color.
In a separate bowl, add sugar according to your taste. If using milkmaid, reduce the sugar quantity.
Mix the sugar with the milk until dissolved.
Add custard powder mixed with vanilla flavor to the milk slowly while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
Cook the mixture until it thickens, then turn off the heat and let it cool.
In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon of ghee and add mava, cooking until it melts. You can also use instant mava made from milk powder.
Mix in sugar and the mixed dry fruits powder, cooking until combined.
Cut the sides off the bread slices and prepare them for layering.
Take one slice of bread, spread the mava mixture on top, and press another slice on top to stick them together.
Cut the assembled bread into desired shapes and place them in a glass dish with some space in between.
Pour the cooled custard mixture over the bread, ensuring it soaks well.
Garnish with mixed dry fruits powder on top.
Let it cool for about 2 hours before serving.
