1

Start by combining 1/4 cup of mayonnaise and 1/4 cup of sour cream in a bowl.

2

Add 1/2 cup of buttermilk to the mixture.

3

If you don't have buttermilk, you can make a substitute by adding 1/2 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice to 1/2 cup of whole milk and letting it sit for 5 minutes before adding it to the mixture.

4

Next, add 2 teaspoons of chives, either dry or fresh, and 1 heaping teaspoon of parsley.

5

Add 1 teaspoon of dill, 3 teaspoons of onion powder, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and a few grinds of freshly ground black pepper.

6

Add 1 teaspoon of tarragon and 1 teaspoon of mustard, followed by 1 teaspoon of salt.

7

Mix all the ingredients together thoroughly.

8

Taste the dressing and adjust the salt if necessary.

9

Pour the ranch dressing into a jar and refrigerate for about a day to let the flavors meld.
