Originating from Brazil, Brigadeiros are a beloved treat often served at birthday parties and celebrations. These chocolate truffles symbolize joy and festivity, showcasing the country's love for sweets. Today, Brigadeiros have gained international popularity, inspiring variations with different flavors and toppings.

Ingredients

  • sweetened condensed milk
  • unsweetened cocoa powder
  • butter
  • chocolate sprinkles
  • vanilla extract
  • sea salt
  • dark chocolate
  • heavy cream

Instructions

  1. 1Combine sweetened condensed milk, butter, and cocoa powder in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. 2Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan, about 10-15 minutes.
  3. 3Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt.
  4. 4Transfer the mixture to a greased plate and let it cool to room temperature.
  5. 5Once cooled, use your hands to shape the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  6. 6Roll each ball in chocolate sprinkles to coat evenly.
  7. 7Place the truffles on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to set.
  8. 8For a richer flavor, melt dark chocolate and heavy cream together to create a ganache.
  9. 9Dip each truffle in the ganache and return to the parchment-lined tray.
  10. 10Chill again until the ganache is firm, about 15-20 minutes.
  11. 11Serve chilled or at room temperature.
