Incorporate cornmeal into the mixture until it reaches a stiff consistency, not as soft as cake.
Prepare banana leaves by washing and stripping them for wrapping the mixture.
Cut the banana leaves to size for wrapping the conkie mixture.
Demonstrate wrapping the mixture in the banana leaf, ensuring it is secure to prevent leakage during cooking.
Tie the wrapped conkie with strips from the banana leaves to secure it tightly.
Boil the wrapped conkie in water until cooked through, then remove from heat and allow to cool.
Unwrap the conkie from the banana leaves to reveal the finished dish.
