1 cup finely grated coconut
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup all purpose flour
4 tbsp melted margarine
1 cup coconut milk / water
1 tbsp grated ginger
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp grated nut meg
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla essence

Place filling on leaf cut outs, fold over edges neatly to make a parcel.

Put parcels with the folded edges side down, on steam pan or tie with a string.

Place in a steamer and steam for 20 to 30 minutes or until slightly firm to touch.

If using the boiling method, place well wrapped and tied conkies in simmering water for 25 - 30 minutes or until firm to touch.
