Sambusa

These savory pastries symbolize hospitality and community, often filled with spiced meat or vegetables. Today, sambusas have gained popularity beyond Somalia, appearing in various forms across East Africa and the Middle East.

1 kilo white flour
1/2 cup oil vegetables
1 Tbsp salt
2 1/2 cup water
3 onion chopped
1 Tbsp garlic
1 kilo ground beef
1 Tbsp 7 spices
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp coriander
1 Tbsp salt
1 cup coriander fresh
1 cup parsley fresh
1 cup onion fresh
1/2 cup fresh dill

Prepare the dough by mixing 1 kilo of white flour, 1/2 cup of oil, 1 Tbsp of salt, and 2 1/2 cups of water until smooth.

In a separate pan, sauté 3 chopped onions and 1 Tbsp of garlic until fragrant.

Add 1 kilo of ground beef to the pan and cook until browned.

Stir in 1 Tbsp of 7 spices, 1 tsp of paprika, 1 tsp of coriander, and 1 Tbsp of salt, mixing well.

Add 1 cup of fresh coriander, 1 cup of fresh parsley, 1 cup of fresh onion, and 1/2 cup of fresh dill to the beef mixture and combine thoroughly.

Roll out the dough and fill with the beef mixture, then fold and seal the sambusas.

Deep fry the sambusas in vegetable oil until golden brown.
