Pour lukewarm water into a bowl. Add sugar, salt, and yeast. Stir until dissolved.
Add flour and mix to form a shaggy mass of dough, ensuring no dry patches remain.
Cover the dough and let it rise for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, divide the dough into four equal halves and shape each into a round ball.
Flatten each ball into a disc approximately 16-17 cm in diameter and 1 and 1/2 cm thick.
Heat a heavy-bottomed cast iron pan over medium-high heat and place the flattened dough on it. Cook until puffed, about 1 minute, then flip.
Cook the other side for 1.5-2 minutes, turning as needed until done in approximately 6-7 minutes. Transfer to a tea towel and cover.
