2 tablespoons butter
1/4 to 1/2 cup milk

Get a saucepan and put some water in it.

Get between 500 and 600 grams of potato, peel it, and cut it into pieces.

Chuck the potato pieces into the saucepan.

Take the skin off 1 large or 2 small cloves of garlic and add that to the saucepan as well.

Bring the water to a boil.

Once boiling, turn it down to a simmer and cook until the potatoes and garlic are soft, about half an hour.

Drain the potatoes and garlic and transfer them to a bowl.

Add a couple of tablespoons of butter to the bowl.

Add anywhere from 1/4 of a cup to 1/2 a cup of milk, depending on your desired consistency.

Add a couple of grinds of black pepper and about a teaspoon of salt.

Mash the potatoes and garlic together until smooth.

Add grated Parmesan cheese, anywhere from a couple of tablespoons to 1/4 of a cup.
