The egg should be at room temperature before cooking.

Use a large spoon to gently lower the egg into cold water.

Bring the water to a boil.

Once boiling, leave the egg for 3 minutes.

While the egg is cooking, toast the bread.

Once toasted, spread a little butter on one side of the bread.

Slice the toast into strips about 2 cm wide, making four strips from one slice.

As soon as the 3 minutes are up, remove the egg from the boiling water.

Place the boiled egg into an egg cup.

Slice the top off the egg immediately with a knife to prevent the yolk from hardening.

Arrange the toast strips alongside the egg for dipping and serve.
