Heat a small pan over low heat.
Add 1/2 cup of soy sauce to the pan.
Add 1/3 cup of honey to the soy sauce.
Add 2 cloves of minced garlic to the mixture.
Add 1 tablespoon of freshly ground ginger.
Add 2 tablespoons of hoisin sauce.
Add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
Squeeze lime juice into the mixture.
Stir the mixture until combined over low heat.
Pour half of the marinade into a small jar for serving later.
Brush the remaining marinade on top of 4 individual salmon fillets, leaving the skin on.
Preheat the broiler and move the oven rack close to the broiler.
Place the salmon under the broiler and cook for 8 to 10 minutes.
Baste the salmon with more marinade halfway through cooking.
Check if the salmon is done by inserting a paring knife; if there is resistance, it needs more time.
Remove the salmon from the oven when cooked through and top with sesame seeds and green onions.
Serve the salmon with brown rice and the reserved soy marinade.
