Scrape the seeds from a vanilla stick and mix them into the chilled rice pudding.
Fold in whipped cream into the rice pudding mixture.
Prepare cherry sauce by heating strained cherry syrup with sugar until boiling.
Add cornstarch mixed with water to the cherry sauce to thicken it.
Serve the rice pudding in small glasses with a spoonful of cherry sauce on top.
