Honey provides natural sweetness.
Add 6 cups of flour to a large bowl.
Add 1/2 tablespoon of salt and 1/3 cup of baking powder to the flour.
Use a wooden spatula to mix the dry ingredients well.
Make a small dent in the middle of the dry mix.
Add 3 cups of lukewarm water to the bowl, ensuring it's not too hot or too cold.
Mix vegetable oil into the lukewarm water before adding it to the dry ingredients to avoid lumps.
Combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring gently from the middle to avoid over-stirring.
Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes to activate the baking powder for a fluffier bannock.
After 10 minutes, check that the bannock has risen visibly.
Shape the bannock into pieces about 2 inches wide or a 6-inch diameter for larger servings.
Prepare a flat bread version that is thinner for convenience.
