Instructions
- 1In a medium saucepan, bring the water or milk to a boil over medium heat.
- 2Add the rolled oats, salt, and cinnamon to the boiling liquid.
- 3Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are soft and creamy.
- 4While the oats are cooking, wash and slice the fresh strawberries.
- 5Once the oatmeal is cooked, remove it from heat and stir in honey or maple syrup if desired.
- 6Serve the oatmeal in bowls, topped with sliced strawberries and chopped nuts if using.
- 7Enjoy warm.
