Drain the bacon on paper towels to remove excess grease.

Slice the french bread open lengthwise and scoop out some of the inside bread.

Save the scooped-out bread for stuffing later.

Spread mayonnaise on one half of the bread.

Layer crispy bacon on the mayonnaise-covered half of the bread.

Add a layer of fresh lettuce over the bacon.

Slice the tomato and layer it on top of the lettuce.

Butter the outside of the bread and place it on a griddle to toast.

Toast the sandwich until golden brown, flipping as needed.
