Measure 1 cup of flour and set aside.
Measure 1 and 1/2 cups of caramel and add to the mixing bowl.
Add 1/2 cup of grated coconut to the bowl.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of mixed spice, 1/2 teaspoon of grated nutmeg, a pinch of cinnamon, and a pinch of ginger to the mixture.
Add 1 cup of brown sugar to the mixture and mix well.
Pour in 1/2 cup of coconut milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Add 1 cup of lukewarm water and mix until combined.
If the mixture is too wet, add a little more flour to bind it.
Prepare a medium-sized pot with boiling water.
Wrap the mixture in greaseproof paper and foil, sealing it tightly.
Tie the wrapped mixture with string to secure it.
Place the wrapped mixture in the boiling water and cover the pot.
Steam for approximately 30 minutes until cooked through.
Remove from the pot and let cool for about 30 minutes before unwrapping.
