Today, variations abound, with some incorporating vegetables or different meats, reflecting the diverse tastes of modern Venezuelan cuisine.

In a pot over low-medium heat, add 3 tablespoons of butter and let it melt.
Once the butter is melted, add 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour. Mix until well combined and let it brown for one minute, being careful not to brown too much as it's for a white sauce.
Add 1 cup (250 ml) of warm milk in two batches while continuously mixing.
Once well integrated, add salt to taste, a teaspoon of seasoning (can be pepper), and nutmeg to taste. Mix well to integrate all ingredients. The bechamel sauce is ready.
In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté onion until translucent.
Add salt, and once the onion is translucent, add chopped bacon and a bay leaf, sautéing well.
Add green onion, carrot, and garlic, and sauté for about 5 more minutes.
Now add the ground beef and mix well, sautéing.
Add salt, seasoning, paprika, and red wine. Mix and let it cook for 5 minutes to evaporate the alcohol.
Lower the heat and add cooked and blended tomatoes, salt, and sugar. Mix well, cover, and let it cook for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Once ready, turn off the heat and prepare to assemble the dish.
In a baking dish, add a portion of the bechamel sauce and spread it well on the bottom.
Add a portion of the bolognese sauce and distribute it.
Place 250 g of precooked lasagna sheets, laying down two sheets in this manner.
Next, add another portion of bechamel sauce and another portion of bolognese sauce, distributing well.
Add 4 slices of smoked ham (you can use any ham you have).
Add shredded mozzarella cheese to taste and distribute it well.
Continue layering with more bolognese sauce and place two sheets of pasta in the opposite direction of the previous ones.
Add more bechamel sauce, more bolognese, and at this step, add 4 slices of yellow cheese (you can use any cheese you want).
Add more mozzarella cheese and continue layering until all ingredients are used, finishing with parmesan cheese to taste.
Distribute well and finish with a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
Bake in the oven at 180°C (356°F) for 45 minutes.
Once baked, cut to portion and serve.
