Baked Chocolate Almond Oatmeal

200 grams dates
3 tablespoons butter
1.5 cups steel cut oats
0.5 cups sliced almonds
3 tablespoons ground flax seed
1 egg
0.25 cups cocoa powder
3 cups milk
0.75 cups buttermilk
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons baking powder
0.75 teaspoons salt

Soak 200 grams of dates in boiling water for 10 minutes.

Add the soaked dates into a food processor.

Add the zest and juice of an orange to the food processor and process into a smooth paste.

In a pan over medium heat, add 3 tablespoons of butter.

Add 1.5 cups of steel cut oats, 0.5 cups of sliced almonds, and 3 tablespoons of ground flax seed to the pan and toast for about 2 minutes.

In a bowl, combine the date puree, 1 egg, 0.25 cups of cocoa powder, 3 cups of milk, 0.75 cups of buttermilk, 2 teaspoons of vanilla, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 0.75 teaspoons of salt.

Mix all the ingredients together.

Pour the mixture into a baking dish and bake at 375°F for 45 to 50 minutes.
