The dish features glutinous rice flour formed into balls, often filled with sweet pastes, and served in a warm ginger syrup. In modern times, Tangyuan has gained popularity beyond its traditional roots, with variations seen in many Asian cuisines, celebrating its comforting texture and delightful flavors.

Roast the raw peanuts over low heat until slightly cracked.
Add walnuts and almonds to the pan with the peanuts.
Add smaller nuts like sunflower seeds and sesame seeds later to avoid burning.
Remove the nuts from the pan and let them cool completely.
Put the cooled nuts in a sturdy bag and remove excess air.
Smash the nuts with a rolling pin, leaving some grains for crunch.
Chop up the raisins and add them to the nuts.
Mix the chopped raisins with the nuts and add sugar.
Add osmanthus syrup for fragrance and honey for viscosity to the mixture.
Add melted butter to the mixture; lard can be used if it has no strong smell.
Use a square container and cover it with plastic wrap for quick mold release.
Fill the container with the nut mixture and refrigerate for 15 minutes to solidify the filling.
Cut the solidified filling into 16 equal parts and roll them into balls.
Freeze the balls for 40 to 60 minutes, depending on the season.
Prepare a flat-bottomed container with half of the glutinous rice flour in it.
Dip the frozen fillings into water and then pour them into the glutinous rice flour.
Shake the container gently to coat the fillings with flour, ensuring they are evenly coated.
After shaking, put the Yuanxiao in a strainer and soak them in water for 2-3 seconds to remove excess water.
Control the movement to avoid clumping; separate any that stick together by hand.
Add more glutinous rice flour as needed, but do not pour it all at once to avoid uneven coating.
Clear the counter of any flour dust for easier cleanup.
Cover the container with a lid or plastic wrap to minimize dusting.
Repeat the dipping and shaking process 10 times until the Yuanxiao reach the size of walnuts.
Boil water in a pot and use a colander to lower the Yuanxiao into the pot to prevent splattering.
Cover the pot and simmer for 2-3 minutes once the water boils.
Add cold water to the pot and cook for an additional four minutes after the Yuanxiao float to the surface.
