This dessert is often enjoyed during festive occasions and family gatherings, showcasing the island's rich culinary heritage. Today, variations abound, with many incorporating local fruits or flavors, making it a beloved treat both in Cyprus and beyond.

Place sugar, orange zest, and most of the milk in a pan, keeping some milk aside to dilute the corn flour.
Mix well and then add the milk with corn flour into the pan.
Cook on medium heat while whisking until the mixture thickens and bubbles.
In six ramekins, swirl lemon juice around and transfer to the next ramekin, repeating for all.
Pour any leftover lemon juice into the pan and mix.
Divide the cream mixture equally into the ramekins, cover with cling film, and let cool before refrigerating to set for a couple of hours.
Once set, loosen the panna cotta with a pallet knife, invert onto a plate, and serve with fruit.
