1 onion, chopped

2 cans (14 oz each) crushed tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 cup red wine (optional)
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until onion is translucent.

Add ground beef and ground pork, cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.

Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.

If using, pour in red wine and stir to combine.

Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and let it cook for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
