Make a pie crust or use a pre-baked pie crust and let it cool.
Whip 1 cup of heavy cream to stiff peaks and refrigerate.
Fill a pot with water and bring it to a simmer, ensuring a heat-proof bowl fits on top.
In the heat-proof bowl, combine 1 cup of sugar and 4 large eggs.
Place the bowl over the simmering water and whisk constantly using a handheld electric whisk for exactly 10 minutes.
Melt 4 ounces of bittersweet chocolate and 1/2 cup of softened unsalted butter until smooth.
Incorporate half of the melted chocolate and butter mixture into the egg mixture, then add the rest and whisk for 6-8 minutes until fluffy.
Fold in the whipped heavy cream gently until fully combined, creating a marbled effect.
Pour the chocolate filling into the cooled pie crust and refrigerate uncovered overnight to set.
Whip another cup of heavy cream to stiff peaks and spread it over the set pie.
Grate additional chocolate on top for garnish.
