Pour water into a saucepan and bring to a boil, ensuring the bowl of margarine and chocolate sits above the waterline without touching.

Once the water is simmering, place the bowl on top and melt the chocolate and margarine together.

Set the bowl aside to cool to room temperature.

Mash or blend the bananas into a paste.

Whisk the sugar and bananas together using an electric whisk at high speed or a hand whisk until thick and drips for a few seconds off the whisk.

Slowly fold the room temperature chocolate mixture into the banana and sugar mixture.

In another bowl, combine the flour and cocoa powder, then add this dry mixture to the batter and fold until fully mixed in.

Pour the batter into the greased baking dish, scraping the sides of the bowl with a spatula and flattening the top to ensure it's evenly spread.
