Mix warm water and yeast in a bowl until frothy, about 5 minutes.

Pour in coconut milk and yeast mixture, kneading until smooth, about 10 minutes.
Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal portions.
Shape each portion into a ball and place them in a greased baking dish.
Pour coconut milk over the buns until just covered.
Sprinkle grated coconut on top of the buns.
Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 25-30 minutes.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
