Warm 1 cup of milk in the microwave for about 1 minute until just warm, not hot.
Add 2 tablespoons of sugar to the warm milk and stir to dissolve.
Sprinkle 3 teaspoons of dry yeast into the milk mixture and mix slightly. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to activate the yeast.
In a mixing bowl, combine 2 and 3/4 cups of Wondra flour, a pinch of salt, 1 egg, and 1 tablespoon of butter (melted).
After 10 minutes, add the yeast mixture to the flour mixture and mix with a wooden spoon until combined. The dough should not be sticky; add more flour if necessary.
Cover the dough with a towel and let it rise for 40 minutes.
While the dough is rising, prepare the toppings by placing 1 and 1/2 cups of plain breadcrumbs in a skillet over medium heat and toast them until they are golden, stirring frequently.
Once toasted, mix in 1 cup of powdered sugar with the breadcrumbs and set aside.
After 40 minutes, the dough should have risen. Lightly flour a board and place the dough on it.
Roll out the dough and cut it into pieces, ensuring there are no holes.
Place about 10-12 blueberries in the center of each piece of dough and add half a tablespoon of sugar on top of the blueberries.
Pinch the dough closed around the filling, ensuring no fruit is exposed.
Let the dumplings sit while you bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Once the water is boiling, carefully add the dumplings, cooking them for 4 minutes on one side with the lid slightly cracked to allow steam to escape.
After 4 minutes, flip the dumplings and cook for another 4 minutes.
Once cooked, use a toothpick to poke the dumplings to release steam without piercing through to the filling.
Remove the dumplings from the water and brush them with melted butter to prevent sticking.
Place the dumplings on a plate, sprinkle with the breadcrumb mixture, and drizzle with additional melted butter if desired.
