Hamburger steak is a popular American dish that combines the flavors of a hamburger with a savory gravy, often served with mashed potatoes or rice.
Ingredients
- ●1 lb ground beef
- ●1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- ●1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- ●1 egg
- ●1 tsp garlic powder
- ●1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- ●1/2 tsp salt
- ●1/2 tsp black pepper
- ●1 cup beef broth
- ●1 tbsp soy sauce
- ●1 tbsp cornstarch
- ●1/4 cup water
Instructions
- 1In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- 2Form the mixture into 4 oval-shaped patties.
- 3Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little oil. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
- 4Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
- 5In the same skillet, add beef broth and soy sauce, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom.
- 6In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Add this to the broth mixture and stir until thickened.
- 7Return the patties to the skillet, spooning the gravy over them. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- 8Serve the hamburger steaks hot, garnished with additional onions if desired.
