Servings4
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
5 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1 cup water
1

In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 cup granulated sugar, 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon baking soda. Mix well until combined.

2

Make three wells in the dry mixture. In the first well, add 1 teaspoon of white vinegar. In the second well, add 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. In the third well, add 5 tablespoons of vegetable oil.

3

Pour 1 cup of water into the bowl and mix until the batter is smooth and resembles cake batter.

4

Spray an 8x8 baking dish with baking spray and pour the batter into the dish, ensuring all of it comes out of the bowl.

5

Swirl the batter around with a spatula to remove air bubbles.

6

Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for exactly 35 minutes.

7

After 35 minutes, check the cake by pressing it with your finger instead of using a toothpick.

8

Let the cake cool for 15 minutes before cutting into it.
